Basically, it's just methanol. The alcohol bonds with the water and allows it to be sucked into the pump and eventually burned. Dry Gas, or generically, Gas Line Antifreeze.
If you use it, use it with a full tank. Some plastic parts don't like high concentrations of alcohol, so a full tank dilutes it. I had an old 99 where a bottle of drygas in 1/4 tank would cause the gas gauge to go crazy. Filling the tank fixed it. I might run a bottle of it in the late fall, when you get cold, damp days where condensation may be a problem.
The best defense is to keep your gas tank at least half full. The less air in the tank, the less chance for condensation. And most gasoline contains some drying agents. Since I like to keep the tank full, I don't usually use it.
