OT: Child carriers for hiking Posted by ChuckD [Email] (#2127) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ChuckD) on Sun, 26 Sep 2004 11:36:42 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hey ho,
While biding time at CostCo while my wife picked up staples, I wandered out of the electronics dept. (was starting to arouse too much spousal suspicion) and came across child carriers. Although I was at one time a more hardcore hiker, we're casual hikers now, and with a two year old, we basically don't hike. But we've been wanting to change that so having seen these things, I've been keeping them in mind...
CostCo has the Kelty Backcountry carrier for ~$90.00. I hadn't priced them yet but this model seemed fairly well-built. We slipped our daughter in to one and I put it on and it wore nicely, very comfortable. So we picked one up kind of spontaneously.
Now having done some Googling on this model, it looks like we hit the deal of the year since I can't find them cheaper then $153! And the few reviews I've read have been very favorable. I set it up for my build and took my daughter for a jaunt around the grounds and she loved it. (Actually we had to deal with a full blown toddler temper-tantrum when we finished but she'll get plenty more time in it).
So, anyone else out there have experience with this, or similar products? Especially travelling with one. We're headed to Maui in November and I'd really like to bring this along but it looks like it might be a problem on a plane.
Tanx.
C.
