The 2.8L V6 Turbo is a new variant of GM's advanced global V6 engine family, which features all-aluminum construction, dual overhead cams, variable valve timing and a host of additional technologies and refinements. First to be introduced in the 2006 model-year Saab 9-3, the 2.8L V6 Turbo is projected to produce about 250 hp (184 kw) of power and 258 Ibs. ft. 1350 NM) of torque. It will be produced at Holden's Port Melbourne engine plant, where a 3.6L version of the global V6 is currently produced. Source: GM Overdrive
Since the much awaited 9-3 Sport Hatch concept was presented with a V6, I guess this announcement is a sure sign that the SH is really on its way for 2006. On paper, it's the only Saab I would consider to replace our 9-5 sedan, which I feel is now only broken-in after 100K Kilos (62K miles)
I posted this news on 9-3 BB with an erroneous title about the 9-3 renewing with V6 power. I realized afterward the 9-3 never had a V6, the NG 900 did.
In other 9-3 news, an optional 6 speed auto in mentionned to be available on new 9-3 1.9TiD and a new 9-3 is schedueled for 2008.
Nice weekend to all
