For those looking to try out using linux for web surfing, i found an interesting little program a year back or so that lets you boot off of a cd image of linux. Knoppix is the name of it, i think, and you download the cd image, and burn it to cd (as with almost any unix OS, it is a free download). Once you have it you should configure your boot order in the system Bios so that the cd will boot. It is a little bit slow if your cd drive isn't very quick, but it is pretty interesting, and will allow you to save files to windows if you need to. i used it for a while, and was pleased with it until i ended up switching over completely to red hat. i'd reccommed it for anyone who is interested in trying out linux programs, linux OS, or just looking to get around the net without worrying about spyware and viruses.
