makes you buy or make your own. Do HP machines still put the recovery discs on their hard drives ?
As I said in my prior post, you get what you paid for. Name a brand that would give you a beefy power supply, great software (i.e. preloaded OS etc.) and support (limited it maybe) and works out of the box for $300. You can't expect to buy a $300 machine and expect it to perform like a $1,000 Dell. Nor would you expect a Saab to perform like a Porche without sinking money into it. Companies are in business to make money not to subsidize products and to lose money 8-).
PCs are essentially commodities, and the market has become extremenly low margin and efficient. If someone can sell a $1,000 Dell machine at $800 with all the support that goes with it and manages to stay financially afloat, Dell would not be in business for long.
