OT: Cordless phones 2.4 vs. 5.8 GHz

I need to buy a new phone set for my home because I want to cross over and Vonage, but it only allows for one phone line so I want to get a base with two expandable headsets. So my question is about 2.4 vs. 5.8 GHz. Does anybody have real world experience. I'm leaning towards 5.8 GHz because I have a wireless network as do my close neighbors. But Costco has two Uniden sets both with a base cordless and two expandable cordless phones. The 2.4 GHz is ~$70 and the 5.8 GHz is ~$160. Obviously, I'd rather say my money, especially since the only reason I buying a new phone set is to save money with Vonage.
Thanks in advance,
Wes L.
