Hello all,
This evening at 10:28 pm I recieved my first ticket ever. I was going 67 in a 45 (I always thought it was 50). The officer put estimation and radar on my ticket as his means of calculating my speed. Yes, I was a bit reckless and I know I am guilty. I was driving one way and the cop was going the oppisite direction on RT. 62 in Lancaster, MA. The stretch where I was calculated, is a straight away with no homes at all. There was no other traffic except a car behind the officer. Anyways, the cop wrote me up for 55 in the 45 (nice break but not enough). The ticket has a problem that I think may throw it out. My Saab 900 and my dad's Saab 9-3 are registered under his name. I am the primary driver of the 900S, however I was driving the 9-3. Now, on my ticket the name of the violator is Paul Taylor which is my father, not I. Yet, my birthdate is on the ticket, 10/15/86. I am going to talk to a man at work tomorrow who is an ex-cop and said for most tickets he may be able to get me off. Hopefully he will be able to assist. Any ideas though? Should this ticket be thrown out because of the names? If I call can the police dept. legally write up a new ticket? Thank you very much.
