My initial reaction is that the mid-90's 900s were relatively new models and, IMO, have not fared as well over time as have the 240's. I owned a 240 and a '96 900. I presently own a '92 900 and an '02 9-3. Based on your criteria, you may want to look at a '93 or earlier 900 ('94 for a 'vert). Other than the RWD, I think this model fits the bill.
