If the dogs are running loose it is hard to do

a whole lot. A neighbor's dog used to poop in our yard--until we got a dog. Then he stopped--sort of respecting the other's territory.
The volume of poop sounds like you may have several dogs doing their thing in your yard. See what a pet store has or recommends. You could also call a vet for recommendations.
If you actually see it happening you may find it is your neighbors walking their dogs and being oblivious to what the mutts are doing--especially since the spot is at a distance from your house. I see this a lot here, where almost everyone seems to have a dog. If you catch them, ask them to have their dog do it elsewhere, or pick up after their animal. If they don't comply, either have the cops talk to them--there are usually ordinances about this--and if that doesn't work, do what my brother in law did and go scoop it up and leave in on their porch.
Good luck.
