We're also a BMW dealer and after driving my share of 540's a 9-5 Aero feels snappier day to day. Now wind that V8 Bimmer up past 5,000 revs or so and it pulls away, but day to day the Aero motor out torques the V8 quite a bit.
I'm not taking anything away from any "M" BMW, they are awesome sports machines, but you could like a 9-5 Aero more and get lots more car or lots newer car for the same money.
Drive a 9-5 Aero before you buy the Bimmer.
