Ok, I have to let out some very justified steam.
My Viggen convertible is due for some warranty work. Hopefully it will be nothing major, just a blown speaker, a burnt foglight, struts, and a subtle squeek in first.
Mind you, the Viggen Convertible costed me about $40k...that's $5k more than my Lexus RX330.
Traditionally, because my local Saab dealer has a poor color selection, I've always purchased them elsewhere. Because of this, my local dealer NEVER gives me a damn loaner because I didn't purchase my Saab from them. I wanted RED with my SE and Black in my Viggen and had to go north a few hundred miles. If I'm going to pay premium for a tangible luxury, you better believe I'm going to get what I want!! Because of this, Saab USA had the decency to reimburse rental at $35/day which was significantly short of a upscale or luxury car, but a nice gesture nonetheless.
Now, not only will my local dealer continue to not give me a loaner, but Saab USA no longer reimburses rentals for warranty work. So I'm supposed to leave my Saab in service and remain carless while they take one week (probably) to do their work. Fortunately, I have another car. But what about those with only one for themselves (the majority of people correct?)They can either get a rental on their fiscal behalf, or bother their friends throughout the week.
I've never had to deal with this utter lack of customer attention with Lexus, or Infiniti or Volvo or any other luxury nameplate in the past. In fact, my local Lexus dealer gives me a loaner even for a one hour oil change, regardless of the fact that I purchased my RX at a Lexus dealer 20 miles north.
Seriously, if Saab expects their loyal customer to continue being as such and distribute positive word of mouth, they have to take better care of their customers. Regardless if they purchase a cheap $23k 9-2X or loaded $50k 93 Convertible.
