There are no magnets on the stock drain plugs.
Title should include the 94-98 NG900 production, same as 9-3. 4 cylinder engines
VITAL: A six point socket must be used on the drain plug. A 12 point socket or wrench will strip the hex head of the plugs. The drain plugs are soft steel.
Also when waiting for the oil to drain via the drain plug, look around for leaks or cracks in the drive shaft joint covers.
With the 9-5's the filter will drain onto things that are below the mounting base. Create a tray or cut 1/2 of a plastic bottle to direct this oil flow out and clear of things below. The NG900 and 9-3s from 94-->2002 have the filter in the clear.
The filter is horizontal. If you prefil, it will spill as you install it, so perhaps partly filled.
Remove the shroud around the throttle body, this makes filling with oil easier and less likely to have spills. Leave the dip stick in until the stroud is off and you are about to fill (otherwise removal of the shroud may place some dirt into the filler neck. The draining will get air via the PCV and will otherwise drain fast enough.
Just add 4 quarts or 4 liters, the level will be fine and checking does no good (unless you forgot the drain plug).
Torque for drain plug is 19 ft-lb
