Well, the subject line pretty much says it all. The forces have united and blessed me with both jury duty AND my first thesis defense on the same day.

I've done jury duty before (several years ago) and normally would be enthusiastic about doing my duty as a citizen of the United States. I know a lot of people have weak excuses to get out, and others have very legitimate ones. This seems kinda middle-of-the-road. I'd be happy to do it any day afterwards.

Does anyone have any knowledge of whether or not they'll give me a pass because I'm a graduate student in my finals week?
