I'll add a few thoughts that may help (or confuse!). I do photography work for part of my living. This also means that I am a bit more knowledgeable about the slightly "higher end" models.
You need to decide how good is "good enough" for your projects. Are you saying that you are looking into an all-in-one model? Or are you willing to buy separate components? How large of a print will you ever need? Many people buy expensive scanners that are overkill (because they never make large enough prints that require the very best of scans).
I don't see why you would need to buy another Dell product (do they even make scanners?). I would also think that nearly all of today's scanners would handle transparencies. Just check the product details to be certain, though. Based on what I "believe" you are seeking ("extremely good" but not necessarily top top top shelf/quality ......... I would buy a very good flatbed scanner and printer (separate components). Remember, a flatbed will allow you to scan just about anything else as well!
I happen to be an Epson advocate - I've also heard good things about Canon & HP units. I use an Epson 3200 flatbed scanner & 2200 printer for most things (Epson has replaced the 3200 with the 4870 model). Together, they should cost under $1000 - fairly big $$. You should be fine, though, with this scanner and an Epson 1280 printer. Their combined cost should only be around $500.
On the other hand ....... NDG recommended the Minolta Dimage Scan IV scanner. This is a dedicated film scanner - and a good one! It will not do anything else, though. Dedicated film scanners are the way to go if ALL you want to scan is film (or you already own a flatbed). They generally offer top quality scans. If you already own a flatbed - get a dedicated scanner.
