Well I'm amazed that GM has hung on for so long. It has been more than 10 years since Gm bought Saab, and although they've shipped the new 900, the new 9-3, the new 9-5, and the new 9-3SS, they've yet to earn a penny on the whole endeavour, nor made much of a dent in the near-luxury/luxury market.
Toyota/Honda/Nissan are grabbing market share a percentage or two each year, and GM needs to concentrate on basics at home if it is to fend them off. Saab is a very, very tiny division of GM, basically a line item buried at the bottom of their sales charts, using basically Opels (and soon Chevys) to fill their showrooms, so why wouldn't GM want to sell it off and concentrate on more important issues (like beefing up Chevy and Buick, discontinuing Pontiac, and making Cadillac a competitor to BMW/Lexus, etc.)?
Makes perfect sense to me, although who would buy Saab?
