A couple of years ago we had part of a half-keg left after a party. The absolute luxury of beer on tap in my kitchen for the next week or so was a great thing. Wouldn't the beauty of the kegerator be that yes, there is a lot of beer, but it's kept cold and fresh right there in your house? :)

Our problem is all the damn bottles. Consider about a six-pack a day for the two of us, which comes out to about two cases a week, which comes out to seven or eight cases (or 150-200 empty bottles) each month lying around waiting to be returned to the liquor store. You had to pay a nickel deposit for each bottle so you want to return them for the refund, because it adds up fast! But you work all week, so you can only make it over there on Saturday afternoon, but that's when everyone else is also returning their empties, which means the machines are full or broken and there is long wait. So it's a real pain. Which is why we have cases and cases of empty bottles everywhere. In the kitchen. In the basement. In the front hall and in the shed out back. I believe there are even some in the trunk of SilverAeroGuy's car. Which leads us back to, how can we enjoy great beer but lose the bottles? The answer seems obvious...

By the way we are experienced homebrewers also, and we could explore many cool options in our brewing adventures if we could cask-condition.

And now I'm going to leave work, go home, and enjoy a cold beer :)
