So I have a 2004 9-3 SS front fascia in my apartment... Posted by Caarma [Email] (#592) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Caarma) on Tue, 15 Mar 2005 16:35:56 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
... because some woman pulled in front of me trying to take a left turn without yielding. I couldn't stop in time and she couldn't either. My left front corner hit the side of her car forward of her right front wheel. I was so angry that she didn't even look carefully. I was fine. My car was still driveable so I pulled into a parking lot and came out to see her with a crying boy and a baby in a seat in the backseat. Everybody seemed OK though. Then I couldn't be so angry. I'm not the angry type anyway. She barely talked to me because she thought it was my fault, (delusional woman). Luckily I had a witness hang around, the policeman came and automatically concluded it was her fault.
To make a long story long, I can't believe how well my car held up. Perfectly driveable, the left headlight still turns on, but all the washer fluid is gone. I unscrewed the fascia from the unaffected side, unplugged the wires to the fascia and cut the wires that were hanging on. I put the fascia in my back seat (quite a squeeze), and drove home.
Another lesson, if you're taking a left at a busy intersection and people let you squeeze through, make sure nobody else is coming!
I had just left from the dealer for my seatbelt recall repair, the car was very clean, and I raised my deductible to $500 in December.
Thank God I have a back-up car, my 1997 900S. Ironically, I would have been more upset if my old car got into the accident.
Just thought I would share. It helps me cope :-)

P.S. I may have cosmetic parts to sell from the (Espresso Black) fascia in the future. I will post an ad once I find out what the repairs won't use from the fascia in my apartment.
