So with all the marketshare loss and hard times that GM has come upon, I have been offered a buyout package at Saturn marketing along with many others in GM marketing. I have been unable to find another job internally (have 8 years at the company) and I don't want to hang around to get laid-off and pass up the package. The downside is that if I take it, I can never work for GM again (or Saturn or Saab marketing). The good part is that I get some salary, continue to get the car discount for 5 years, a voucher for some cash off of a new car, and some money towards tuition.
I'm 2/3 done with my MBA at Univ. of Michigan and I'm looking for work, but the idea of just finishing school by the end of the year seems appealing. If I do get another job, I could get double salary for a year. I have worked in powertrain engineering, reliability engineering, marketing product planning, and marketing interactive project management.
What would you do if you were in my shoes?
Work another job get double salary and finish school next spring
OR
Finish school by the end of the year and work hard to get recruited in the fall
Thanks for any advice in advance.
