It's not you with the poor luck Posted by Ari [Email] (#2847) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ari) on Wed, 30 Mar 2005 13:04:42 In Reply to: anyone have any friends or family pass away?, Nathan Pflaum [Profile/Gallery] , Wed, 30 Mar 2005 10:54:36 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Not to be flip about it, but it seems like the four other folks are the ones with the bad luck.
Yes, losing people is no fun. I'm heading to a wake this afternoon, and am a pallbearer tomorrow. As you get older, you get to know more people, and the better the chance that people in that group will pass away. Not to cheer you up in any way, but my 80 year old mother-in-law goes to a funeral about every 3 weeks or so.
Sometimes deaths come in spurts (I lost my parents 99 days apart, followed by my wife's uncle a month later), and other times it is years between events. During the big breaks, you forget; during the spurts, it seems like the world is closing in. Get together with friends, talk about it, and try and move on.
That's the thing about life - nobody gets out alive. It's all part of the deal. It's reasonable for that to get you down - that's a normal response. But you shouldn't let it keep you down - if you're always worried about losing your life, you've lost it already.
OK, enough philosophy - anybody need a car fixed?
