O/T Thermal beverage bottles Posted by ChuckD [Email] (#2127) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ChuckD) on Mon, 4 Apr 2005 07:25:11 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
(Knowing that Saab drivers like their hot beverages hot and cold drinks cold...)
For around three years I've been very satisfied with my Zojirushi Tuff Wide for keeping my daily coffee prescription hot. I've always thought the cap was overly complicated (has to be dissassembled for thorough cleaning) but it does a great job, and the bottle itself used to keep the coffee hot for most of the day.
Amazingly so.
In fact pouring a cup later in the day, it would still be steaming and I'd have to let it cool a bit before drinking. That's after sitting in the bottle for 5 hours!
Anyway, it seems that the bottle has lost it's insulating capabilities. For one thing it's really warm on the outside which tells me it's not stopping the heat from escaping and, obviously, the coffee's not staying warm till lunchtime.
I'm thinking to buy another since it performed so well when new, but if I have to toss it every two or three years, that don't seem right.
I'm theorizing right now I must have broken the vacuum (it's been dropped once or twice, but it's a steel interior, no glass), or that it just wore out. Anyone have any ideas for a good thermos (generically speaking) or if I did bust this one?
Thanks.
C.
