What would be cool is stretching a little more for a car that won't be obsolete and will provide a much more sophistacted level of safety. It's also the most reliable, practical, roomy Saab ever built in Trollhattan.
May I recommend a 9-5 SportWagon. As an example I have 2000 V6 with only 88k for just $10k and that's from a dealer (and yes I will buy a TSN classified!). I'm sure you'll could get a lot closer to $5k for a few more miles and a 2.3lpt.
A 9-5 is still a very traditional Trollhattan Saab, just contemporary safety and convienence features, and they're getting truly cheap. It's a 13 year newer design than a 9000 and 20 years newer than a C900 and 5 years newer than a NG900/OG9-3 and is getting pretty close in price for older ones.
And reliability wise, well reliability is one of the reasons to select a 9-5. A 9-5 even has the recommendation of Consumer Reports!
