I oversee the maintenance of 7 service trucks & vans, three of which roll on 235/85-16 tires. I recently bought a set of Kumho Venture HT for a 1-ton welding truck (weighs approx. 13,000lbs) and so far they're working pretty well. If you're looking for a value priced tire, the Kumho is a good choice.
The XPS Rib seems like overkill to me. Do you really need a tire that can be retreaded/regrooved? Basically the XPS is a big rig tire made for smaller trucks. I remember looking into the XPS but recall they cost about $200/tire and had lousy all season traction. Instead, I'd recommend the Michelin LTX M/S in your size if you want to stick with the Michelin brand. If you're a warehouse club member, that tire is called the X Radial LT. It's an excellent all around truck/SUV tire; maybe the best tire in its class. They'll give you better all season traction while still running smooth and quiet (for an load rated E tire).
Another good tire in that size appears to be the new Firestone Transforce HT. We've run Firestone Steeltex tires on a few of our trucks with excellent performance. The Transforce is the updated version of the Steeltex tire. Pricing is between the Michelin and the Kumho.
The BFGoodrich Commercial T/A has a reputation for a harsh, stiff ride but it does last a long time. For your needs I'd prolly avoid this tire.
I hope all this helps.
