I had a bunch of motorcycles on my tail so I sped up so I could pass the next car that was to my right and move in to the lane. I cranked the speed up a bit (80mph at best), but then the gas pedal got stuck and there I was, doing 110+ mph and trying to switch lanes! Luckily, I was able to get all the way over to the right hand lane without hitting anyone, put the car in neutral and finally, stopped the car . It smoked up pretty well, wouldn't start again for a while and the gas pedal was very loose. The guy that I was with jiggled and fondled the gas pedal, something clicked and... TADA! The pedal was back to normal and I could start up again.
I have no idea how this happened, but I really don't want this scary event to happen again.
Any idea as to how it happened and how to prevent it?
