This does look promising. If the bending of the vane ring does not pose a danger to the metal, it could have the needed service life. The noise of a coupled pump-motor would be localized and there would not be high pressure hoses to radiate sound. The unit would go where a clutch or torque converter are fitted now. So it could be contained in a bell housing type stucture and the pump-motor units could be mounted to the bell housing with elastomer elements. There would need to be a cooling loop on the low pressure side. So that presents an extended element that could transmit noise. And like all hydraulic systems, there would be need for filters, perhaps a low micron bypass unit as well.
As for the 0-60 in .9 seconds. That may require 4 wheel drive and thats more G force that mom needs to get to the grocery store.
Wait until an auto company in Japan licences the technology. The big three will take notice!
One possibility is 4 wheel hydraulic drive, but that gets into serious noise implcations as the whole system is spread out.
