I pressurewashed an area of my deck (we call it a porch) so it was back to a natural wood color (well as natural looking as pressure treated gets) instead of gray. After a couple days drying I slopped on a liberal soaking of Thompsons water seal. In the year since I did that, it has faded back to gray but still repels water very well. Some of the porch is not treated so the difference is quite dramatic still. I did some more of the porch recently and expect to get a couple years out the stuff at least. A two gallon tin only does about 6x25 feet.
Thompsons is one of those products heavily advertised on TV. I have a personal axiom where if anything is heavily advertised on TV, it's probably mediocre and I should stay away. I am pleased with this though, but don't have much hands on experience with competing products.
