Cingular cell phone taxes and surcharges

First of all thanks Scott for the cell phone info. As usual, saabnet is a melting pot of knowledge, and yes, knowledge beyond Saabs ;)
Anyways, I've made the switch to Cingular but I'm not to happy with the extra fees. I was paying about $35 dollars a month with Sprint and thought a few extra dollars a month for better service would be worth it. I got a detailed layout of what my monthly bill would be and it's far from the advertised $39.99/month. I knew there would be some extra fees, but $13 more! My actual bill is going to be $53/month. I wouldn't be so worked up if Sprint's extra fees were comparable, but they only constituted $5 of my monthy bill. Most of the discrepancy in fees are federal and state taxes. Shouldn't they be the same regardless of which provider you are using? For example, Sprint 911 fee is $0.82 while Cingular 911 fee is $3.22. Is Cingular 911 service any better or different than Sprint's? It would be like going to Best Buy and being charged 8% sales tax, and then going to Circuit City across in the same shopping center and being charged 12% sales tax.
Maybe, I'm not understanding how these fees and taxes are actually calculated but I will be calling Cingular on Monday for an explanation. In the meantime, can anyone here shed some light on the topic?
On the upside, I love my new Nokia6230 and finally have service in my home.
