mountains north and west of Boston have some very light colored granite or diorite that can look like snow in bright sun. Unless she was headed to Canada or Europe it's unlikely she went far enough north to get a look at Mt. Washington or any of the Whites. My bet is she was headed west and saw the top of Pack Monadnock in Temple NH or more likely Monadnock in Keene, NH. Monadnock has light colored granite all over its top and it can look like snow.
