Solar and nuclear power may be the magic wand - maybe. I havn't given any thorough study to the world supply of uranium (is there really enough around which is easy to get at to supply world energy needs for the next 1000 (or even 10) years)?
Ultimately, aside from nuclear power all the energy we use comes from the sun (coal, oil, wind, hydroelectric). The tides come from the moon and geothermal comes from gravitation, but these are not signifigant sources of energy.
If you look for them there are some really frightening prognostications on the web regarding world energy consumption - again I havn't done any thorough study of the claims, but after spending an evening reading about "Peak Oil" I could barely function for the next week.
The only really useful suggestion I can make is to not rely on "the scientists" to "come up with something". As a professional physicist I'll tell you that scientific progress is hard to make, and also isn't a sure thing (see also Cold Fusion).
sorry to be such a downer.
