I once went close to 48 hours without sleep.
Got up Thursday morning (7:00 AM), went to work. Came home, ate dinner. Went back to work at 11:00 PM (i was surveying Metro tunnels at the time) and worked until 4:00 AM Friday. I had a ton o' shiite to do so went straight back to the office and put in another full day.
Friday evening, we had a little party. My roommate decided to go fishing and leave at about 4:30 AM on Saturday. Sounded fun so I joined him on that. Instead of going to sleep, I decided to stay up and party through the night.
We arrived at the boat ramp about 6:30 AM. During the trip to the ramp, I would SNAP in and out of sleep. I had some minor trembling of the extremities. While we were preparing to launch his boat, I asked "Can you here that?". I heard country music. There was no music. Auditory hallucinations!! Weee!!!
We got out on the water and anchored. I fell asleep almost instantly. On the ride home, after snoozing on the water for 5 hours or so, I absolutely COULD NOT stay awake. I would fall asleep mid-sentence for a split second and then wake up. I was kinda tired.
I think that's my best, 7:00 AM Thursday straight thru to 8 or 9 AM on Saturday.
