Used to be that incentivized US Saab prices previous to '06 got to be pretty comparable to IDS, International and Diplomat Sales - European Delivery - Military Sales - whatever you call it, prices. That is with huge rebates the IDS program wasn't a great value, a good value yes, but not great.

Well it's whole new ball game for 2006. List prices for US 2006's have been lowered drastically, but the IDS discounts remain the same so now IDS prices have a huge advantage.

And now there is financing availible through Saab Financial too, even in California, so one need not be in a position to pay cash for the car and pay for a European vacation all at the same time. You can finance your European delivery through standard Saab programs. Still no leasing though.

Basically the Tourist Delivery Program is roughly a 10% discount on the vehicle PLUS a $2,000 travel allowance on top of that. As the value/benefit has increased so much for 2006 it wouldn't surprise me that Saab would roll back the travel allowance to the previous $1,000 of several year ago, but I understand it's still $2k thru orders placed the rest of the 2005 calendar year.

I myself was awarded a trip to Sweden and Trollhattan for my European Delivery efforts in 2003 and it is a kick. Since then the Saab Museum has been remodeled and I'm anxious to go back in 2006. Now with the financing availible and the '06 price advantages it will indeed be a very good year for IDS sales.
