they have admin rights to their own machines. Yes, that's by choice, I think they should know a bit more about computers. Yes, they got yelled at when I found "un-authorized" things on their machines.
The younger one knows how to install apps (mostly games) but haven't been told how to uninstall them yet. The older one essentially downloaded everything under the sun.....virus, spyware, and all.... at least before I put software firewall on each machine. Wife doesn't care what to install as long as she can log on to her Bloomberg. I am the Help Desk, System Admin, Surf Patrol, hardware and software repairman (as many here are I presume). All machines are scanned for virus, spyware.... using a suite of anti whatever currently.
A machine or two do get wacked once in a while and I essentially had to rebuilt the machines from scratch. As the backup disks on these machines are somewhat old, it takes a while to update to the current XP SP2 + the zillion patches. I think I'd better image these things while they are still in pristine condition 8-).
Maybe I should use imaging and backup instead of cloning.
