With the gas prices these days, I'd move away from SUV's. Or, if gas price is of no concern, great time to buy SUV's as people are selling their gas guzzling SUV's for something more economical. My friend has had very hard time selling his GMC Yukon XL. Lower demand, you should be able to get a killer of a deal on a used SUV. (My friend's down to $12k on his '01 Yukon and still can't sell it). So if you are looking to replace your Disco with another Euro SUV, I'd get the older M-class. Remember, you are looking for 'killer deals' right now.
If you are looking for versatile 'wagon' that is absolutley fun to drive, (besides Saabs),I'd get either Volvo t5? (I don't remember the model designation, but the one (wagon) that produces 300 hp AWD.), or the Audi All Road.
If you are not into wagons, then BMW M3 or Audi A6/A8 would be my choice.
If you want sports car/convertible, I think Porsche Boxter, BMW Z3, Audi TT or Benz C (Not sure if prices have come down to $20k on those).
That is, if your requirement is European only. (Last time I checked, Mazda was not European :) ) And I wouldn't buy anything but a Saab for me - may be.
Good luck,
James from Michigan...
