Here are my suggestions if you have a car

2 days at Disneyland/Disney Adventure
1 day in Palm Springs (120 miles one way Approx) Living Desert (desert animals and well the desert) in the morning and do the Cable Car in the Afternoon (Go from desert to snow (As long as it has snowed) top mountains in 20 mins with spectecular views)
1 day in Big Bear, Mountain resort great views and hikes and a lake. Hire a Small boat for an hour for $15 the kids will love it.
1 day at Univerasal Studios....good family fun
1 day in San Diego could probably do one or two of the zoo as described below or spend a day at Legoland........winning the fire engine race here is one of our Son's greatest moments.
2 days to REST!

Don't know where you are from but prepare for TRAFFIC it is pretty bad any time of day and the driving standards even suprise my friend who lived in New York for forty years.
