GF buying a car...

So my girlfriend is looking to buy a car, only real mandate is that it be four door. She is also in here first "real" job out of school and doesn't want to spend a ton of money on a car 1.e. less that $10k. She has looked at Saabs but she doesnt want anything older than a 1999 and most of the Saabs we have found in that price range have over 100k miles. Now I know that Saabs (and most cars) can run well over 100k miles however to her it is a big deal...and I can understand that.
Here is the thing. A guy at my work is selling a 98 BMW 318i (4cyl, 4-door--yes I know this is the whimpy engine) black leather, 5 sp, moonroof, harmon sound system, looks like the sport package (bigger wheels and skirts), it has 75k miles and has the remainder of the warranty 2year/25k with a $0 deductible.
He wants $8,250 --good deal?
Any critiques about the car, I have read that they seem to be pretty reliable but have expensive maintance. Thoughts?
Thanks
Chris
