Our local Toyota dealer has great service. They have a 30-minute express area with reasonable prices for oil changes, routine maintenance, and inspections. The service department is friendly and thorough and always happy to explain repairs. They even return the items replaced by default (well, we never had something heavy replaced, and I'm not sure they'd through your blown transmission in your trunk, but you get the idea). This is the same dealer that switch to up front, no haggle prices before it was trendy. A first class act -- and I'm sure a lot of people wish more Saab dealers were like that. But I can certainly see where other dealers, especially ones that deal with mass market cars, could, well, suck. Dealers have a huge range of lattitude in how they behave, so I don't think it's fare to attribute dealer behavior to a given brand, though some seem to do much better than others (eg Lexus).
