Here's my guess: The "pub cans" or whatever they're called need to be opened in a specific way for the charger (the little ball) to work properly. To be specific, you should try to open them quickly so that there's a rapid imbalance of pressure within the can. This imbalance of pressure causes the ball to burst and then carbonate/charge the beer. Opening slowly, ie opening with a long hiss, is something like cradling an egg you don't want to crack. To rupture, the charger needs a fast pressure increase - not slow. This is wild conjecture, thoughts? NTM
