Sorry to chime in late...Clay bar will also work very well in removing tree sap, and other contaminants. this can be found at most auto parts stores, and runs about $15. Be sure to use a good lubricant (the mother's kit comes with lubricant). Clay bar can be used on glass as well and 1 bar should be enough to do your car several times over. Just store in a plastic bage to prevent it from drying out.
Tree Sap is stubborn, and anything you use to remove it will strip your wax, so be prepared to re-wax the affected areas. I would use a light polish before waxing to remove any marring/scratches induced by the sap removal. Meguiar's and 3M are excellent products readily available at local stores.
Good Luck!
