And, as Warren Zevon would say, "They weren't that pretty at all..."
While a contactless induction system could be designed it would be super expensive. Safer than a "third rail", but still dangerous.
Might as well install guidance/collision avoidance/full autopilot control in the same conduit on our autobahn/interstate highways.
