TV hookup pains

I swear I can't get it right. I am trying to get all these things to work together:
1. Sony Surround Sound System
2. Toshiba 32HDTV
3. Playstation 2 - connected via Component Cables to TV & Optical to Stereo
4. Samsung DVD - connected via SVideo to Stereo and DVI to TV
5. Comcast Digital Cable Box - connected via Component to TV - can't get surround sound to work for the TV?
6. Sony VCR - connected via composite cables to TV
Anyways. I just can't get this crap connected the right way. When I finally get one thing to work; something else doesn't. I don't expect anyone to explain to me how to set it all up; but is there a good website i can go to to explain all this? Seems like the manuals / etc. don't explain it that well.
I thought a great idea for a website would be where you select the components you have and it just shoots back how to hook it up. Hooking up this stuff sucks. Everythign works OK - my only real complaint is I can't seem to get the setup right to play the TV (through the Comcast box) through the surround sound.
