But I've been thinking, with GM's current difficulties, that that could be a real scenario in the not too distant future. Renault has no presence in the premium market in Europe, and SAABs could as easily be built off Renaults' platforms as Opels'. I think Renault would be a parent company who would give SAAB a bit more freedom than GM does. It's actually something that I would LIKE to see happen, though I think, while GM has no money to invest in SAAB, it does realize that the brand has serious usefulness to it in the US, with SUVs in decline. The thing is, I think GMs back is to the wall, and may get even more to the wall over the next couple of years. I wouldn't be shocked to see stock trading in the sub $10 range.
