Since they specifically asked for them, you have to include them (if I ask for something specific in job solicitation, any applicant who doesn't do it goes right into the trash).
The proper place for this is in the cover letter, NOT the resume.
I would put it in as a separate paragraph -- the second to last paragraph -- just before your closing.
If you have a real bottom line and can't accept anything lower, I'd say something like:
"I am looking for a compensation package in the range of $xx,xxx to $xx.xxx." They asked for the info. They know they asked for it. They won't be offended by a direct and courteous answer to their question.
if you are more in a situation where you would consider ANY offer, but want to get the highest possible offer, I would suggest something like: "While I am looking for compensation in the area of $xx,xxx, my interest in your company would make me seriously consider any offer."
Another way to answer the question but also get around actually answering the question would be something like: "I would be looking for a compensation package compenserate with other XXXXXXXes at XYZ, Corporation." Fill in the XXXXXes with "managers" "programmers' " janitors" etc ...
Good Luck!
