The transmission relies on the input shaft turning for oil circulation. You should just unbolt the driveshaft from the rear end and tie it (securely!!) up and out of the way. Or remove it completely (unbolt the rear and pull it out of the transmission)--but then the oil will run out of the transmission....
OR--You could put the rear wheels on the dolly, and lock the steering---ONLY if you don't have wire wheels. If you've got wire wheels, reverse rotation will make the knock-offs unscrew, and then the wheels will fall off.
You could get an 'auto transport trailer' from UHaul (you know, the BIG drive-on trailer), if you've got something big enough to pull it, or you could rent the trailer, and rent a truck to pull it.
