OT - CD Storage help Posted by ChuckD [Email] (#2127) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ChuckD) on Wed, 2 Nov 2005 20:21:23 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I foolishly thought when I went to CD burning technology I could lose my hundreds of unreliable floppies, consolidate my data and live the good life.
Now 7 years on, I'm drowning in CD media and I still have all those floppies in boxes in the closet. A year ago I made matters worse by getting a DVD burner and now can see (barely) that unless I take offense against the onslaught, I'll spend my life in a CD prison of my own making.
So I put to you, gentle SaabFolk and lovers of things widgety, what's a good solution to wrangle this mess into some kind of order?
My needs are a storage solution that doesn't need to be portable (in truth something that fits in with the living room decor, tabletop or freestanding), includes some kind of indexing system (which I likely will neglect), holds 80+ music CD/DVD's in non-encased form (I can always hit up Ikea for shelves for CD/DVD's in their cases).
Eventually I'll get a pc with a couple terbytes hooked to the stereo/tv but that's a ways off, and I've looked at the 'jukeboxes' but am hearing bad things about their interface. And I've tried getting jewel boxes but get tired of making labels.
Anyway, I'm looking at this right now as pretty close to what I want (see link below) and wonder what others are doing or could suggest.
Thanks!
Chuck
