Well the shower now works as intended (hot and cold water - what a concept), and the problem was even more basic then you thought. The cartridge was installed correctly, but the temperature calibration was way off. The water in our master bath is the farthest point from the water heater, so the hot water takes quite a while to come up. So when the plumber calibrated the mixer the first time, he didn't wait long enough for the hot water to come up. That resulted in the mixer being calibrated as hot as possible (our hot water may take a long time to come up, but it is hot).
When the owner of plumbing company came in response to my complaint, he just didn't understand how to calibrate the mixer. The calibration procedure is in the mixer install instructions, but I've got to admit its none to clear and I also thought he was doing it right but to no avail.
The plumber than spoke to Brizo, and it then became a simple fix. Five minute and it was a good range of temperature as it should.
Thanks for your advice Steve. I've still got to check the screens regarding the water pressure (which is somewhat better now that cold water is actually being mixed in), but I may soon be seeking your's and others advice regarding options to increase the water pressure in our master bath(the pressure has always only been kinda average to somewhat above average in the house).
Thanks again Steve!
