Saab does it..... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 28 Nov 2005 09:20:15 In Reply to: Moose Testing Question, Freddy, Mon, 28 Nov 2005 09:05:41 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a photo on my business PC showing what I believe is a 5-door 9-3 impacting the moose dummy at speed. The dummy is a suspended bundle of sticks wrapped in moose hide, not a real moose carcass. The car is squatted onto its rear suspension as result of the impact, but the roof and windshield appear intact. Send me an e-mail address and I will forward the photo to you.
I think I saw a description of the testing method on Saab's web site a couple of years ago, but maybe it was in a product brochure. Saab's new 9-3SS/Sport-Combi brochure shows a fibreglass anthropomorphic Moose head, complete with the yellow and black quandrant stickers for high-speed photographic purposes.
In Sweden, and maybe all of Europe, these animals are called Elk.
