This is the what I remember for win 98se:
use startup disk.
at the "a" prompt type "fdisk" to delete then create a partition. You will lose all your data.
Format: at the "a" prompt type "format c:/s
Reload Windows: place your win 98se cd in. At the "a" prompt change to drive e or f depending on what your cdrom is set to. For example if your cd is drive e: type "setup/is".
Then go to Microsofts website to do your updates.
This should do it for a clean install.
For XP boot off of your XP CD to reload or reformat.
