A bad streak...
Bone loss in men is a real danger and under recognized. When men have large declines in testosterone and DHEA, things like this can happen just like the GALs get hit when their hormones crash. With men its a slow decline and there is no hormone crisis.
Bones are living things and are also compromised by imbalances in minerals. It takes more than calcium. Magnesium is very important (and most Americans who do not supplement are deficient. Also needed are vitamins (importantly vit-D) and trace minerals. When the body is out of balance and is loosing calcium, then the body robs the bones to get it. Calcium balance is very important and the nervous system cannot work properly without it.
Some reading on your part would be useful, then you could show up with a present of DHEA (50-100 Mg/day) and other things. So you might be able to do something to help and that at least would be a positive experience. But sometimes folks will not listen to anyone when it comes to these things. I have seen it go both ways.
Bone fractures in men (and women) are associated with some serious survival issues. For various reasons, after a fracture, one is at significantly increased risk of [near term] dying compared to a normalized group with similar heath/age issues that do not experience a fracture. Some groups are trying to generate interest in the importance of bone health and fracture prevention.
Email me if you would like to locate some related info.
