E85 is 85% ethanol, and 15% gasoline. (THe winter blend is probably lower so that it can do cold-starts.
As for Hydrogen, I know that hydrogen can be produced with electricity and water... it's just a matter of the scale required to fuel everyone's cars. I'd love to have a Hydrogen car... and my own solar panels producing the hydrogen. IT might be realistic someday. :-)
BMW has a couple of cars that run on either Hydrogen or Gas as demonstration cars. PRetty sweet deal. Only trouble is infrastructure and the big-oil opposition (Oh, and I'm sure about a million other things, such as safely driving around with compressed (liquid?) hydrogen, etc...)
