My daughters have Dell notebooks, & if you browse around Dell's website there's a downloadable .pdf of a 'repair' manual. Shows how to dismantle the case & get that stuff. If you can dismantle a carburator you can probably do this.
Check whether there's a limit to the RAM size or whether you have to get a BIOS update or something silly like that.
