Bad, bad, bad service report. Posted by Camm [Email] (#191) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Camm) on Fri, 10 Feb 2006 15:28:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
On NOVEMBER 26 2005, I called Saab of Halfmoon, formerly New Salem Saab to order a new ignition lock cylinder, keyed to match my existing keys for my '83 900 Turbo. I paid by CC and was told it would be 2 to 3 weeks for the part to arrive.
Five days later I get a call asking me again for the AC (key code) number, along with a BS story about the computer eating the original order - i.e. they probably lost the post-it they scribbled it on.
3 weeks come and go, and I call and ask where the part is. I'm told that it hasnt arrived and to sit tight, which I do.
Another 3 weeks pass, I call again, and I'm now told that since it is the holiday season, I should expect to wait another 3-4 weeks because of a supposed hold up in customs. In addition, I'm politely asked to stop calling - they'll call ME when it arrives!
Nevertheless, I call every 2 weeks through the last week of January, each time being told some story about shipping, or customs, or some other story, which in hindsight were all flat-out crap.
Finally, two weeks ago, I've HAD it - I call Saab of Halfmoon and intensely but politely express my extreme dissatisfaction. He looks up the "order" and sees that it was NEVER PLACED!!! What boggles my mind was that insted apologizing, he gets defensive and has attempts to convince me that noone on his staff dropped the ball and that this is normal, since, in his words, it is a "sketchy process" to get a new lock.
The order apparently was finally placed since I just picked the lock up this afteroon, only 11 WEEKS after ordering it.
It stinks to have to write this since, as I've documented on this board, New Salem had always done me well in past. That good history is totally outweighed, not so much by the shocking incompetence, but by the repeated bald face lies.
What a bummer.
